Client Rights and Responsibilities 

All people using our services are entitled to expect and to receive a high standard of care, as such you have the right to:

→   Consideration and respectful care

At ALL times regardless of your age, gender, culture, sexual orientation, disability, or economic status.

→   Access all information relating to you

So long as this does not involve risk to your own safety or that of children or young people in your care.

→   Privacy

 All information about you is kept confidential.

We shall only make exceptions to confidentiality in order to reduce risk. In circumstances in which Eastern Coromandel Community Services believes on reasonable grounds, disclosure is necessary to prevent or lessen a serious and imminent threat to public safety or the safety of any person. About any aspects of the work we do. We are to work with you to set goals and work towards any changes you may wish to make in your life.

→   To stop using our services at any time

If you choose to do this please let us know and we will be happy to support you to find alternative support that you feel is more suitable.

Terms of Service

Eastern Coromandel Community Services is a team of professionals who work together to support the needs of our community.

→   When you are engaged with Eastern Coromandel Community Services you will be asked to agree and consent to receive support from our services. Your rights and responsibilities and the complaints procedure will be explained to you, with a copy given for your records.

→   Your information may need to be shared within the team of people who have/are working with you to help us better understand you and your needs.

→   Should there be a risk to a clients personal safety or others around them, that information will be escalated to people and/or agencies that can provide specialist intervention.

→   When engaged with our service, clients are asked to attend appointments as arranged and contact their key worker if they are unable to attend.

→   Clients will be discharged, and their file will be closed should they fail to show twice without prior notice.

→   We will ask you if you agree to the collection of statistical information for the purposes of auditing and improving service delivery. See our Privacy Policy for more information.

Privacy Policy

Eastern Coromandel Community Services Trust provides confidential services and your privacy is important to us.

We are committed to acting in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. This privacy statement explains how the ECCS collects, stores, uses and protects your personal information.

The types of information we may collect are:

  • Name

  • Contact information including phone number and email address

  • Details about your enquiry

  • Demographic information such as your gender, age, ethnicity, and location

We require this information to understand your needs and to be able to provide you with the appropriate and best quality of service.

We collect your personal information in order to:

  • Help you with your enquiry

  • Help us improve our services

  • Seek funding for our services and report to our funders

Any information shared with Eastern Coromandel Community Services Staff or Volunteers will be kept confidential within the Eastern Coromandel Community Services agency and their professional supervisors.

Occasionally there is a need to share certain information outside of Eastern Coromandel Community Services to the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) or other government agencies for funding, reporting or auditing purposes. This is statistical information and is presented without identifying details so it is not possible to connect information to a specific person.

Rarely, information may be shared if there is a reported concern for you or others safety.  Your consent to share information will be sought prior to release.
